What could be a better occasion to show a little love than a honeymoon? Whether you’re going on a honeymoon and looking to surprise your new hubby or wife with a nice gift to get the marriage started on the right foot, or you’re a loved one who would like to wish the honeymooners well, I’ll do my best to provide you with suggestions for honeymoon gifts.

The perfect honeymoon is about relaxation and indulgence -- much like the perfect gift!

Gifts on a honeymoon are not a new tradition: sources say that even the ancient Romans would make an offering to their new brides hitting up the marital bed. However, after receiving bazillions of wonderful wedding gifts, buying something else for your sweetie may be the farthest thing from your mind. Here’s why you should reconsider: nothing stokes the fires of romance like showing affection, and what better way to show affection than offering a sweet and thoughtful gift?

Tuck a honeymoon gift into your luggage, or arrange with the hotel to have it waiting in the room.

While wedding gifts tend to be practical items for the house and what-not, a honeymoon gift can be something more sensual, like nice perfume, lingerie (a great gift for him and for her!), or fine jewelry. What about something that will remind you of the place? For example, if your honeymoon trip is to Tahiti, how about having some high quality black Tahitian pearls waiting for her in the hotel room? (You can always call the hotel concierge to arrange having honeymoon gifts waiting for you in the room, they’ll be more than happy to accommodate your request.)

Remember, a honeymoon is supposed to be low stress (you’ve just had enough stress with the wedding!). That means anything you can do to make the travel aspects of the trip easier will be very welcome. How sexy is it to start a trip with 18 hours in planes and airports? Not very cool. But if you can arrange to be upgraded to first class, you’ll be sipping martinis and lounging out in lie-flat beds rather than suffering away back in peasant class with everyone else. Now that is a honeymoon gift idea that will be appreciated!
